A main theme of the scriptures is the Land of Canaan. It is a symbol of salvation and rest. In the Old Testament the Land of Canaan is a literal temporal earthly inheritance, and the concept of salvation is to keep in holding its ownership. However, to keep it depends on observing the old covenant in token of which was given to Jews. And the Jews were deprived of the land because they were not free from idolatry. So the period that they lost it is three times longer than the one that they kept it.

In the New Testament the land is spiritual eternal heavenly inheritance and the concept of salvation is to become heirs to the promised eternal inheritance by grace through faith and to foretaste the riches of it under guidance of the Holy Spirit who is a seal and a deposit guaranteeing it. To keep it depends on observing the new covenant.

The Gospel According to Matthew is a Pentateuch of the New Testament. The Gospel explains the beginning of the Christian church age as a spiritually inaugurated present kingdom of heaven as well as a new millennial age according to types of Pentateuch as if the Pentateuch does the beginning of the literal Israel as an old millennial age. The Gospel is a history up to the beginning of the Christian church age as if the Pentateuch is a history up to the beginning of Canaan age as an Israelite millennial age. The Gospel sets up the life of Jesus Christ as a wilderness age, and the Christian church age as a Canaan age. The Gospel takes types of the life of Jesus Christ in the life of Moses and also takes the types of public life of Jesus Christ in the exodus events. The Gospel shows that the inaugurated present church kingdom of heaven and Christianity are based on the public life of Jesus Christ as if the Israel and Judaism are based on the exodus events.

The Gospel shows the directly-opposed antagonistic relationships between Judaism and Christianity. The Gospel discloses Jewish political religious leadership and the tradition of the elders, namely, Gezeirah as a very rotten condition contrary to Christian gospel that is in a very healthy condition in order to make clear the Christian gospel as a system of faith and as a substance of God's will to the Jewish Christians so that they may shift their paradigm, namely, old wineskin. The Gospel makes clear the meanings of Christian gospel through stating both the things that the Christian gospel means and the things that the Christian gospel does not mean.

The Gospel reads the ultimate failure of the Jewish kingdom as the accomplished one of the first hope (Ha-Tikvah). Man's kingdom is given at the cost of shedding the blood of so many people but the peace it gives is nothing but a temporal earthly pax. So the Gospel declares the opening of the God's kingdom at hand that Jesus Christ will introduce in this world. It is not a Jewish literal temporal earthly kingdom (Olam Ha-Ba) as the second Ha-Tivah but a Christian spiritual eternal heavenly kingdom that is given at the price of shedding the precious blood of God the One and Only. And the peace that it gives is the pax of God's shalom. And the hope that Jesus Christ accomplished is not for only Jews but for the people of all nations who believe in Him. And the Gospel sees the Christian church as the spiritually inaugurated present kingdom of heaven prosperous until the day our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
